BIOGRAPHY
Hunter’s rural upbringing in North Carolina was tied closely to craft and making. His parents worked in stained glass, wood, and pottery. He spent much his youth working in their studios learning the deep knowledge of these crafts. After graduating with honors and winning the AIA gold medal, Hunter spent two decades practicing architecture in Los Angeles, New York, and Paris. He spent a decade under pritzker prize winning architect thom mayne at morphosis and the last decade practicing architecture as the founding principal of weather projects. Deviating from the constraints of architecture, his work in sculpture explores his interests in memory, time, and intuition. The work is made by hand resulting in each object having its own unique identity. His primary medium is wood sourced from local forests and neighborhoods surrounding his home in Los Angeles.
